We have an access to the information our grandparents could only dream of, we can read a book on any subject you can think of, travel to the most remote places on Earth, learn languages. Everything is within our reach; yet we are failing terrible in our relationships, we have an enormous amount of people with depression and mental issues, we raising kids who lack social skills, manners and discipline.
Where have we gone wrong? With all the resources available we should master our lives and live happily with our eyes closed.
I feel like we trust everyone else's but ourselves. We have headache for three days and check google to see if we have cancer; our baby doesn't want to sleep, we hear 100 advises from tall the moms we know, and the confusion reaches the highest point.. So which one is the right one? They all are.. BUT you need to find your right answer. Listen to them all, but learn to filter, and then choose whats' right for you - don't blindly follow what other people are saying,, no matter how convincing they sound. It is probably something that is working for them ,but it may not be right for you.
It doesn't take long to feel overwhelmed as we get bombarded from everywhere , and it is very important to stop, think and listen to your inner-self. You just need to be aware of the difference between fear and intuition. Work with your intuition , add logic and you will be fine.
It is great to ask for an opinion, and/or do a research on something that we are unsure about, we feel uncertain or not in piece, but don't just follow it, because it work for some people. Remember you are NOT 'some people', you are unique, one off and matchless, therefore something completely opposite may be the best thing for you.
Like everything new, we need to practice those skills. They aren't easy, but after you try few times, you will become better it ,and eventually you will master it.
Don't worry about what others think of you - it is really none of your business. You can't please everyone - you are not the Nuttela jar.
it's important to do what feel right to you, many will have opinions, only you know what feels best.
Start from today. I'm sure there are things in your life you need an answer for. Look inside - it is there.
We all want to be liked, accepted, and belong. It is in our nature -humans are social creatures.
We live in a quick world , where we constantly are fed by social media, tv , influences etc.. It is quite hard to be yourself and stay unique, as we get bombarded pretty much from everywhere, and all the time - we are told what to wear, where to eat, where do go on holidays, how many kids to have, you name it. Every aspect of our lives seems to be decided, sadly not by us...
While you shop for your bread and milk , you can also check out the latest coffin designs (in case you haven't seen go to Costo). Coles got rid of the plastic bag to 'help environment' and instead introduced plastic collectible toys... If you shop at Coles or Woolies think before you accept the useless piece of plastic that will soon poison our beaches, and our backyards... We need to start using our brains on regular bases, and use our own judgments rather than listening to what being said to us.
Open the news and what do you see? - Qantas to test non-stop flights to London and New York, Commuter chaos across Sydney rail network, severe weather warnings, Uber Driver has car stolen at Sydney station, not a single word on the Amazonian rainforest, which is currently burning at the record rate. Earlier this month, Brazil declared a state of emergency over the rising number of fires in the region .On Tuesday, Eric Holthaus, a meteorologist, tweeted data showing smoke from the first covering about half of Brazil. Effects of damage to the Amazon go far beyond Brazil and its neighbors. The area's rainforest generates more than 20% of the world's oxygen and 10% of the world's known biodiversity. The Amazon is referred to as the "lungs of the planet" and plays a major role in regulating the climate. The world would drastically change if the rainforest were to disappear, impacting everything from farms to drinking water. There is nothing on the news, no media coverage, isn't that shocking?
Don't fit into the mould, stay authentic and be yourself. Use your common sense, your gut feelings.
Do you like everyone at work? Probably not...Then don't expect everyone to like you too. It is actually really unrealistic, especially if you work with a lot of people. I certainty don't like everyone I work with, and I can tell you I know there are people who aren't my fans... It doesn't bother me and I don't lose my sleep over that.
Do what feel right for you, it doesn't have be what everyone else is doing, or following... It is ok not to have Netflix, Spotify or Stan, the latest Iphone ,or newest model of Nike shoes to be cool... You are cool by being yourself !!
“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.” .
We are almost at the end of winter and even though I come from a cold European country I prefer warm weather. This winter feels a little long for me than before - perhaps because for the past three years I was in Europe, and missed half of it...Either way I can't wait for more sun, longer days, beach time and camping... good times are ahead..
Today will be about happiness.. Something we are all strive for - if you ask people what they want you will hear a lot of . I just want to be happy... Don't we all? It feel like love and happiness are the top things we want to achieve. And we all want be happy all the time, and all the time... Straight away I think .. Are we being realistic?.. and is it possible to be happy all the time? Imagine that you constantly feel happy, you never feel sad, annoyed, angry or frustrated... would the happiness feel the same then? Would it have the same taste? What I'm trying to say is if you never been unhappy, you won't appreciate happiness, if you never been hungry, you won't know how good it feels to be full, if you never been cold you won't know how wonderful it is to feel warm, if you never been sick you will not know how fantastic is to be healthy, etc.
So where do we find this HAPPINESS? Don't even try to look in your drawers, it's not in the bathroom either, sometimes you may find it in the bedroom ... People, who have money will tell you it doesn't have anything to do with that..
The best place to look for it is INSIDE you! Yes, it is that simple. You need to find your happiness within you. But how? The best start is to get to know yourself better, ask yourself few questions ' Who am I, What do I like, what do I dislike? What is it that bring smile to my face? Do I like my job? Am I happy in my relationship? Do I hang out with people who support me, who accept me the way I am?etc,
If you understand that happiness is something you can feel not all the time( hopefully few times a day). To be able to experience this feeling everything in your universe must work... So it is not en easy task to achieve... If you satisfied with major parts of your life, then it is not so hard to work and try to change things that don't work.. if there is a lot needing changing, maybe it is a good idea to look for help, there is plenty of support out there, from therapies to psychologists, and more.
I'm a coffee drinker - I buy coffee every morning on the way to work - that simple task bring a smile to my face... I'm fortunate enough that I can afford to spend $4 and have a beautiful flat white, which I enjoy every single morning at my desk... Lately there was discussion at work how much money you can save if you put aside those $4 a day and what a waste of money it is to buy coffee .. since you can drink Moccona at work for free... I heard someone calculated if you put aside those $4 a day after 12 months you can buy a ticket to Europe... Great !!!! If that's what is going to make your happy do it!!I love my coffee and I won't give up because the feeling from that liquid feels so much better for me than that ticket to Europe! Full stop.
Do what brings smile to your face, it doesn't matter what it is - reading, walking, running, shopping, travelling , extreme sports, concerts, dancing, learning new languages, you name it... Find within yourself the things you like or you would like to try and go for it... You have no money now? Put aside this $4 and do it in 6 months!!!
There is a lot of things that bring smile to my face - food, family and friend I love spending time with, books, music, nature, travelling - that's just few that comes to my head... Of course my little Gucio shoes bring a smile to my face every single day - but that's kind of obvious:)
Keep searching for your own Happines... it is there,, keep looking and I can assure you - YOU WILL FIND IT:)
Welcome in the new week.. actually half of the week is nearly gone.. I hope you had a good long weekend... I did.. We were celebrating my husband's birthday (a big one) - I organised a surprise birthday dinner.. it was worth seeing my husband's face:)
Anyway back to the shoes business... It has been almost 3 months since I started my adventure with Gucios and I have to say - what a ride it has been so far... not only I learnt so much about myself, but also I found a lot of interesting things about people... Things I thought would have never happened did, and vice versa... I had my bet on few potential customers , but in fact they weren't interested to purchase the shoes... I mean they were..for half price or for free and the people who never crossed my mind bought it.. Some customers ordered even before my website went live and then cancelled when they saw the price (they never asked about the cost in the first place)... and some mums were putting the money aside for few months to get the pair of Gucio... wonderful..
I feel very happy and proud that I could bring a product so unique, with so many amazing qualities to Australia... And I'm happy that people appreciate it.. it really made setting all up worth it.. I just hope Gucios one day will become recommended first shoes for babies learning to walk as they deserve that title without any doubt.
Just really wanted to say a big THANK YOU my customers/mums who supported and support Gucio ., with you it's all worth it...
Humans are on a constant quest for excellence. If it can’t be found within ourselves, then we look to other things to represent it. This is what a luxury brand is all about: receiving an item or service of exceptional quality transfers this trait to us, and marks us (rightly or wrongly) as one deserving of excellence.
It is this feeling of increased self-worth that a brand must cater to if it is to climb the slippery slope to achieving luxury status. There are a number of methods a brand can accomplish this, and the most successful luxury brands usually employ a combination of these, if not all.
This is perhaps one of the key defining features of a luxury brand. There has to be a marked difference between the ideal customers of a luxury brand and those of a competing, lower class brand. This difference can be social, monetary, or otherwise. The luxury brand’s products may still be accessible to the general public, but they need to put in a lot more work/expense/investment for them to obtain one. It is this exclusivity that makes the brand so desirable—both to customers and to the public.
Most luxury brands set their products apart by adhering to their own design philosophies, and eschewing the conventions of their peers or those set by the general public. This can lead to products that are either over-engineered or highly stylized, but in a manner that is unique to the brand. It is this uniqueness that becomes a prime attractor for customers who want to set themselves apart from people who use similar products.
I strive for Gucio to be an exclusive brand - it is unique and ticks all the boxes for exclusivity, but at the same time it is accessible to general public. The brand is not design to be discounted -in fact the manufacturer and the owner very rarely have sales, and one of the reasons for it is to keep it exclusive. At the same time the shoes sell well, the quantities are limited as it is a time consuming labor work, every shoes is 100% hand made, it is truly an art. If you are looking at the website and waiting for sales I cannot see it in the near future. If you like the shoes, just buy it. We may be able to make a better deal if you wish to purchase 2 or 3 pairs but other than that the prices remain the way the are.
At the end of the day day Gucios are designed not for everyone, only a limited amount of customers will become our exclusive ones. Will you be one of them...??
Have a good week
I have to say the idea of gift vouchers came to my head some time ago, but then I kind of left it… As the time went on I forgot all about ….until yesterday… I had my first request from a lovely lady that wanted to order a gift voucher for a Baby shower gift… How lovely is that? I wouldn’t mind a gift voucher for a good pair of first shoes for Oscar at my Baby Shower… I would take it out of my cupboard when he would start walking and order a pair of new, good shoes.. How good would that be??
I love the idea that my little shoe business is developing the way my customers want… I take on board all the feedback/requests and I want to address it as much as possible (and of course the quietest I can). In saying that I’m hoping to have something in place for the Gift cards over the next couple of weeks. My next little project is to organise the gift cards/vouchers.
I better get back to work then.
I’m looking forward to see if the gift cards would be something you would like?
Happy Monday everyone! I know it's not Friday but it's the beginning of a new beautiful week... remember new opportunities are waiting...
Today I would like to share with you this quote that I really like...
What I really love about them... is the fact that they contain someone's personal history...I find myself wondering about their lives. I can never look at a garment... without thinking about the woman who owned it. How old was she? Did she work? Was she married? Was she happy?... I look at these exquisite shoes, and I imagine the woman who owned them rising out of them or kissing someone...I look at a little hat like this, I lift up the veil, and I try to imagine the face beneath it... When you buy a piece of vintage clothing you're not just buying the fabric and thread - you're buying a piece of someone's past.”
― Isabel Wolff, A Vintage Affair
This quote is about the vintage clothing but it got me thinking about Gucio shoes.
A bit of history about Gucio shoes...
They are designed and made until today by Slawek Piwowarczyk - the owner and founder of the company. He originally made them for his own children, because he couldn't find anything worth buying. At the time he didn't know that will become his passion and his career. He then started making shoes for his friends' kids and so on...Initially the shoes were made in his small 3 bedroom unit (bathroom, kitchen and anywhere where they could find space to do it). Slawek always mentions his wife as a big part of the family business, she is behind all the logistics. 20 years on and the business is going strong, selling in many European countries as well as America and Canada, recently Columbia and of course now Australia.
Slawek is still passionate about his shoes and his shoes are a truly art of work.
I feel very proud to be a small part of this amazing story. And I feel very privileged to work with Slawek and his wife Beata.
Welcome back! I hope you had a good last week. I was offline as my little man was sick again... Writing was totally out of picture (all mothers would know what is like to look after the sick child..) ... The good news is that Oscar is on the way to the recovery and I'm back in action.
Let's talk about the importance of buying quality shoes for your young ones. For a start the obvious reasons - the little ones can't express themselves, therefore they won't be able to tell you that the shoes are uncomfortable, tied, etc. I don't know about you but I don't buy cheap shoes anymore as I often find they not very comfortable, they smell, they don't breath brrr I rather have less shoes, but good quality.
There is more reasons to invest in good shoes for your kids
The opportunity is defined as a time or set of circumstances that makes it possible to do something... We all look for opportunities - whether it is in our personal or professional life... I'm not any different.. I don't believe in luck, but I believe that if you want to achieve something and you work for it you will get it.... it is just a matter of time....
Did you know that successful people fail more ? Do you know why?? it is very simple - because they try more.. if something doesn't work, they try something else, if something fails , they keep going... they don't give up... It is quite fascinating reading about successful people - Thomas Edison was told by his teachers he was ‘too stupid to learn anything’, or Walt Disney was told by his former newspaper editor that he ‘lacked imagination and had no good ideas’. What about Albert Einstein - As a child he didn’t start speaking until he was four, reading until he was seven, and was thought to be mentally handicapped.
But going back to the opportunities - they are everywhere,, we just need to open our eyes as well as our minds... Sometimes one conversation, or few pages of book, an article or a situation may change our perception.. We need to do something about it - take it further, take it with us on our life journey...
We all different and learn different ways - I like talking or rather listening to people, who are smarter than I am - I believe it is a great way to learn... there is one secret though - you must listen what the other person has to say.,, if you only talking you won't learn - you are basically repeating the information you already know...
This is how I took my opportunity with Gucio shoes...
I never thought of having my own business... A lot of my girlfriends were successfully running small companies, but I couldn't really see myself in any business, I was happy to to work on a salary.. My opportunity came few months , and I took it.. All I needed was one conversation with my partner,,, I mentioned to him that there is a lot of interest for Oscar's shoes ,and all he said was " Why don't you check if the owner has a distribution in Australia" - these were Karl's exact words .. Guess what? On the same evening i researched Gucio shoes, and messaged Slawek (the owner in Poland) about the distribution... A day later he answered, a month later I was the official distributor of Gucio shoes for Australia and New Zealand, and 3 months later I opened my online store ... Possible??? hell, yeah...
I met two ladies, who were interested in a distribution of Gucio shoes - one did go as far as asking few moms if they were interested in buying the shoes (they said no) so she gave up the idea, and the other one apparently went to see the owner in Poland and at she reckons it wasn't worth importing... Who knows how many more though of doing it? The road from thinking to actually doing can be very looong for some...
if you really want to do something in your life, even the smallest thing - MAKE IT HAPPEN NOW, not tomorrow, not next year , NOW is the time... The opportunities are waiting in the least expected places....
For me this journey has been incredible so far - I have learnt so much, and met so many wonderful people,,,, I know I'm already successful in my own way..
Success is where preparation and opportunity meet...
Grab your opportunity today ,,,,
